Eat or be eaten

It is early in the morning, and your alarm clock is buzzing for you to wake up. The buzzing of the alarm clock cuts deep into the beautiful dream you were having sitting on the beach in the Caribbean and sipping a cold drink. Suddenly the weather changes, and a giant storm invades the calm and peaceful beach. The accompanying thunder and heavy rainfall ruined the last day of your vacation. This made you extremely angry, then it occurred to you that you were not in the Carribean, you were sleeping under your warm sheets, and your alarm clock is doing all within its power to wake you up.
But you do not want to wake up, because it is winter and the last thing in your mind is going out in the cold to exercise. You slept the previous night telling yourself that today was the day you were going to make it happen. Today was the day you will get out and exercise before going to work. Like the past 100 days, you have talked yourself out of getting out of bed.
There was a morning you were so angry with your alarm clock that in addition to cursing it, you smashed it on the wall. On this particular morning, the alarm clock appeared to be so relentless and persistent to the point of driving you crazy.
Then you developed some back problems and knee problems because you became a little fat or if the word chubby makes you feel better, you can use it. Your newfound excuse is your hurting back and knees. When you tell your friends and colleagues, they node their heads in sympathy towards you, they all agree with you that you shouldn’t ruin your already bad back and knees. In your mind, this is a reasonable justification for not exercising. But it is not helping your situation. With each passing day, your weight has only gotten higher, and the pain keeps increasing as well.
While your weight may be the cause of the pain you are having, it has not prevented you from cutting back on your portion size. But the few times you have tried, you have been so hungry, and the cravings have been too intense for you to stand.
This is what you need to know:
“The early bird eats the fastest worm. Please don’t ask me; what about the worm? Each morning in the African savannah, when a lion gets up, it must start running, or it will starve. On the same savannah, the deer must start running, or it will become lunch! Are you lunch or the eater? The choice is yours!”
